Raining Data Tiger Logic XDMS Plug-in for freebXML Registry
Supercharge your registry with XML data persistence and management
Overview
Raining Data provides a plug-in for freebXML Registry that uses our TigerLogic® XML Data Management Server (XDMS) as the repository for ebXML Registry. It provides the following value added features:
- Ability to query XML Content in repository using XQuery
- Integrate heterogeneous data sources
- Create XML views of disparate information for business intelligence
- Enable a single source of truth
- Transform, normalize and synchronize data assets
- Manage distributed transactions and maintain referential integrity of enterprise data sources
- Aggregate enterprise data into central repository data warehouse
- Federate enterprise data as a logical or “virtual” data warehouse
The plug-in has been tested using the freebXML Registry Unit Test Suite per the guidelines defined.
Primary Use Case
In any real world value chain, true “value” comes from enabling collaborations and loosely-coupled integrations between multiple trading partners and applications transcending geographic and functional boundaries. It is freebXML Registry’s goal to enable true integration between trading partners and support the overall advantage and vision of an SOA in which heterogeneous applications communicate and share functionality without human interaction.
However, to achieve a “true” SOA, there exists the need to manage large amounts of related business service information consisting of metadata and business service artifacts. Some of the metadata and artifacts produced at design-time are XML Schema definitions (XSDs), Web services interface descriptions (WSDLs) and design-time policies used to drive organizational and industry best practices into these artifacts. Run-time activities will produce other metadata such as service configuration information and service descriptions enabling their discovery. All this business service information needs to be queried, integrated, transformed, normalized, aggregated, federated, have referential integrity and also provide views for slicing and dicing of this information to make this information actionable.
The OASIS ebXML Registry Technical Committee's Registry Information Model (RIM) Specification or what can be referred to as the repository provides the mechanism to manage this business services information. This repository may be implemented in the form of a relational database schema, object database schema, or some other physical schema. It may also be implemented as interfaces and classes within a registry implementation. We recommend the use of TigerLogic XDMS, an XML database as the persistence mechanism for freebXML Registry since the artifacts to be stored in ebXML Registry are primarily XML-based and hence are best handled by a native XML storage and management mechanism.
The primary use case is to use TigerLogic XDMS to provide improved repository features beyond those provided by freebXML Registry.
